Local with wheelchair access.

Had scale and polish and 1 extraction Miss O Callaghan was the dentist first class best dentist I have ever used down to earth nice person. Explains everything and makes sure you have an understanding of what she is going to do. On the extraction she made sure the the gum was frozen before removing the tooth unlike dentists I have used in the past. Highly reccomend her.

Nith Place Dental Practice

5-7 Nith Pl, Dumfries DG1 2PL, UK – 01387 252957

I would thoroughly recommend Phil Brown he is totally amazing. I have had a bad experience in the past and very nervous of dentists my smile was ugly and depressing. But i went to phil and he transformed my smile and confidence. A true professional and lovely man also the staff go the extra mile to make everything run smooth and make you feel valued and safe. I would love to show my before and after photos but can't upload them

Recently had a free consultation with Philip Bown, he explained a treatment plan, and we went through several options for a my prefect smile, which included bridges/whitening. I would highly recommend this practice. Exceptionally friendly and very professional.

Greyfriars Medical Centre

33-37 Castle St, Dumfries DG1 1DL, UK – 01387 257752

I have been with Greyfriars for over 20 years and must say I always felt very supported by the Surgery team. They are all very professional and always made themselves available if my health wasn’t good. Very good practice.

Desperately needed to see a doctor whilst visiting my parents for a few days, really helpful and saw me immediately. Very kind, helpful and put me at ease - brilliant service, thank you!

St Michaels Medical Centre

St Michael's Bridge Rd, Dumfries DG1 2PX, UK – 01387 244950

Difficult to get a regular appointment unless you are lucky and repeatedly call after 8am to get a same day appointment. Large waiting area lacking in stimulation. Subjected to local radio and one TV that streams NHS adverts and advisory notices. It wouldn't be hard to put a news channel for those waiting to be seen. Small selection of toys in the corner for those with kids. Doctors and staff are pleasant and most appointments tend to run slightly late. There is ample parking to the rear and adjacent in the parking area for the Dock Park.

always had friendly staff who go out of their way to help although sometimes can be difficult to get an appointmemt but that just tells me they are popular because they are good so worth the wait

Primo Piano

103 Queensberry St, Dumfries DG1 1BH, UK – 01387 248008

Primo Piano was not difficult to find on Queensberry Street. Follow your nose and you will find it; the smells alone convinced me and the group that I was with that we are at the right place. The decor was clean, very homey, but not frilly in the least. Comfortable, I would say, a wonderful melding of Italy and Scotland. I decided to have the Pollo Piano, this was my first time visiting and I was playing it safe. This turned out to be a delicious chicken dish with an unknown combination of cheeses, pasta, and vegetables. My reaction, on first bite, was to say "Oh my god, this is way too authentic to be in Scotland!" I have spent several months in Italy and strangely I can now say that one of my favorite Italian meals of all time came from Scotland. I am not certain who created the menu or who cooked this meal, but they are without a doubt authentically Italian. So many nuances to this meal were outstanding, layer upon layer of flavor that I would never expect from what I thought was a simple chicken dish. On this trip I was leading a group of study abroad students from the US, 10 in total, and they were each pleased and impressed with their meals. Upon returning to the states we have relived many stories about the food in Scotland, we all enjoyed the haggis, and we all look forward to returning, but, Primo Piano stands out as everyone’s favorite meal. I can’t remember the exact price, maybe 12 or 14 pounds, not overpriced, very much worth the money. I/we look forward to returning on our next trip. Jason

High price for decent food. Shame the service is not up to the same level. Slow, unprofessional, just kids being used on the cheap. Otherwise, OK.

Amazing place fab food..😍

Casa Mia Dumfries

53 Nunholm Rd, Dumfries DG1 1JW, UK – 01387 269619

First ate here a few years ago on a visit to Dumfries and went again last week. Was a little disappointed from what I remember from the first time. Food was good but nothing special. Dessert was a strawberry and kiwi pavlova but was actually just a meringue nest filled with fruit and cream. A little expensive for what we had. On another note, nothing to do with the food but the chair covers looked awful, they were terribly creased and looked a bit untidy instead of elegant

Don't go here very often, mainly due to the cost. The food I'd beautifully cooked, if as little pricey. Surroundings are very pleasant and look spotless. Staff are good.

Maxwelltown High School

Lochside Rd, Dumfries DG2 0EL, UK – 01387 722000

A great school that has always been looked down upon by others with lots of good memories. From what I hear, the teachers here are great and the school is good in assisting pupils who require learning support. With the exception of the sports hall, the buildings are looking really run down now due to lack of basic maintenance and funding. It is shameful for the council to allow it to fall into this condition and it must also be an uninspiring environment for the kids and teachers who attend. I guarantee the heads of the council would not want to work in buildings as neglected as these, let alone children in their most formative years. The old pond area to the rear of the science classes looks awful is now totally overgrown and the walls and coping are falling apart. It's really quite a sad sight compared to how I remember it when I attended in the mid nineties and it was no oil painting then either. It's just a matter of time now until it is demolished once the super school is complete. I cannot envisage that the council will want to keep the buildings as the work required to modify and refurbish them will likely be too prohibitive.

Maxwelltown high is a very good school because you always get help and care
